MEED's Smart Cities 2014

MEED’s Smart Cities 2014 is a thought-leadership and networking event for all those involved with the challenge of bringing  the latest methods and techniques for delivering sustainable urban management in the Middle East region. We expect support  from local and international project directors, planning experts and strategists and wish that the conference defines the agenda  for the Middle East Smart City movement to 2020 and beyond.

MEED’s Smart Cities 2014 is a platform for discussion amongst project directors, analysts, planning experts, strategies,  technology consultants and providers who aim to address the following:

  • The Smart City in 2020: The Smart City vision, critical steps for implementation, common impediments, and strategies to overcome these challenges.
  • Smart City value proposition: The measurable outcomes that will be delivered as a consequence?
  • Business model innovation and Smart City in practice: How will we deliver the service? Case studies will be presented of Smart City projects in practice including: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Yanbu and Makkah, City of London, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Barcelona and Malaga Spain, Berlin, China and Singapore
  • Governance model: Who will be responsible for delivering the necessary outcomes?
  • Transportation in the Smart City: The conference will hear how the cities of the Middle East are dealing with booming demand for mass transport solutions.
  • Critical initiatives in new hyper-growth cities: Public safety, energy and water efficiency (smart grids and metering), telecommunication, smart building concepts and smart e-government initiatives,
  • Technology and the Smart City: Addressing technology challenges that relate to engineering such as scalability, interoperability, security and resilience. These innovative plans will help answer questions that will kick start plans, designs to deliver the right solutions and services.
  • Finance model: How will we finance the delivery of these initiatives? Driving public and private sector collaboration
