UAE: Number of accredited energy saving companies on the rise


In a ceremony held at the offices of the Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau (RSB), HE Ali bin Abdullah Al Owais, chairman of RSB, presented certificates to the three latest additions to the body’s accreditation scheme.

Al Futtaim Technologies, Honeywell and Philips Lighting, join a total of nine energy service companies (ESCOs) brought on to support the UAE’s Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative.

ESCOs provide energy performance contracting to clients with the goal of achieving energy savings. Employing a variety of approaches, such as upgrading air condition systems, implementing efficient lighting and improving building controls, ESCOs are typically rewarded based on energy savings achieved.

Commenting on the recent accreditations, Al Owais shared: “We congratulate the new companies and commend the efforts of the nine companies on our roster so far. These companies have demonstrated their technical capability and financial strength to offer energy-saving services to clients.

“Their work will be a vital element in improving energy-efficiency in Dubai, contributing to achieving the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 to reduce energy consumption by 30% by 2030.”

Operating under the direction of the Dubai Supreme Council, the RSB has accredited nine ESCOs to date. In addition to the new entries, the list of recognised companies include Al Arsh Facilities Management, Emrill Energy, EMS, Green Technologies, Johnson Controls and MAF Dalkia.

“The new companies will help increase energy efficiency to reduce consumption, support sustainability, and make Dubai a role model in energy-efficiency contracts by strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors,” added HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, vice-chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
