UAE : DEWA meets with U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change


With climate change being the greatest environmental threat facing the world today, Dr. Jonathan Pershing of the U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change met with Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), to exchange talks on enhancing the co-operation between UAE and the U.S. to further enhance sustainability measures.

The UAE is stated as one of the first countries in the international community to combat the growing issue of climate change. The country is also known as the first nations to have endorsed the extension of the Kyoto protocol in 2005. DEWA is named as one of the UAE’s delegation on its participation of COP 21 Paris, 2015.

According to Saeed Mohammed Al-Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), this movement was shown as one of DEWA’s efforts to co-operate with the international community on the issue of climate change, emulated by DEWA’s role to adopt and implement the best standards of sustainability and to launch new renewable energy projects. It also shows DEWA’s action plans to meet sustainable development based on knowledge, innovation and sustainable green growth.
