Dubai : First LEED-certified nursery building

Located in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, Ladybird Nursery has just completed the construction of its Early Learning Center. Equipped with eco-friendly features and design, the building is targeted to be the first LEED Gold-certified of early years learning facility in the region.

According to Monica Valrani, CEO of Ladybird Nurseries, this eco-friendly building comes with green features such as an automatic air-conditioner that can switch off once windows are open. The air conditioning drain water is then recycled and re-used for irrigation. Moreover, each of the 15 classrooms will incorporate fans and lighting that are energy-efficient.

She also added that long-term respiratory illnesses can arise as a result of “sick buildings”, referring to standard buildings that are not eco-friendly.
