UAE: Enec and Nawah Reveal New 4 Pearl Headquarters

Masdar City, one of the world’s most sustainable planned urban developments, is the new home for the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec). The move to the green-focused eco-city emphasises the company’s mission to deliver clean, efficient, and safe nuclear energy to the United Arab Emirates.

The new headquarter building is expected be the first to achieve an Estidama 4 Pearl rating for its green design. It is designed to use 64% less energy and 75% less water than its non-green counterparts in Abu Dhabi.

According to Mohamed Al Hammadi, a chief executive of Enec, Enec’s upcoming nuclear energy plant will prevent 12 million tons of carbon emissions every year. He stated that the company’s vision is to provide the UAE with clean and sustainable energy.

He further explained that Masdar City and its renewable energy sources are an example of the UAE’s commitment to the pursuit of clean and sustainable forms of energy; a position which diversifies the nation’s supply.

Nawah Energy Company (Nawah), a subsidiary of Enec, has also moved into the headquarters. The company’s acting CEO, Mohammed Sahoo AlSuwaidi, believes that the move strengthens the two’s goal to supply UAE’s energy needs with sustainable sources.
