Dubai : Addressing the need for more green building experts


In a recent forum conducted by Emirates Green Building Council and Heriot-Watt University, experts addressed the need for more building services and smart technology engineering graduates as there is an increasing demand for green building and energy efficiency projects in the coming years.

At the forum, graduate and undergraduate students from American University of Sharjah, Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Men’s College, and The British University in Dubai had the opportunity to hear first-hand insights from key professionals working in the industry.

The event highlights the importance of the green building industry, trends expected in the green building sector as well as its future needs. The experts at the forum also identified the importance of education and training reflected upon the rapid demand for expertise in energy efficiency and green buildings. This is to ensure that the region had enough qualified professionals in the future.

According to Saeed Al Alabbar, the Chairman of Emirates Green Building Council, although there has been an increasing number of qualified professionals, with the rapid demand of green buildings, the Middle East will need more professionals in the industry. He added that it is important to identify the credentials and expertise of the graduates seeking job opportunities that will benefit their career prospects while ensuring a healthy future for the green building industry.
