Aiming to create technical  awareness and knowledge in Qatar’s green building and sustainability sector, the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) will soon launch a new season of the sustainability education and professional development programme in March this year.

According to Meshal Al Shamari, Director of QGBC, development in education and sustainability in Qatar are the main pillars of QGBC’s mission to bring about awareness and understanding of green buildings in the country. The QGBC programme will feature a variety of standardised courses and workshops related  to topics such as rating systems, sustainability in the built environment, green buildings’ certification process, and essentials of a green building.

Developed since November 2014, the Sustainability Education Program is aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 goals to create a sustainable culture in Qatar. Moreover, QGBC works side by side with Qatar Foundation’s mission in advancing society and unlocking more of its human potential.

Hamoda Youssef, Head of Communications at QGBC also added that the QGBC research and education team have kept on studying the market to encourage designers, consultants, engineers, architects, contractors, corporate executives and students in the sustainability industry to join the courses.

Apart from the soon-to-be launched programme, QGBC has also launched a survey to seek and identify the gaps in Qatar’s green building and sustainability education sector. It aims to develop better training courses in response to the increasing demand in the country.
