The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification established by United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has just been given to the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport Domestic Terminal in Turkey for its eco-friendly structure and application. This green terminal was listed among other 10 airport terminals with LEED certification, the most renowned green building certification worldwide. The Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is operated by TAV Airports and designed by TAV Construction.

According to Ümit Kazak, managing director of TAV construction, the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport New Domestic Terminal was constructed in line with the requirements of the LEED certification to achieve its environmental sustainability goals, which now has been awarded by LEED Silver certification.

Kazak added in a statement that TAV believes sustainability and environmental protection are all about responsibility towards future generations, and will thus continue to complete their other projects through implementing the latest environmentally-friendly technologies.
